Integrated marketing communications includes advertising, sales promotions, packaging, public relations, publicity, personal selling, direct marketing and event sponsorship. We were involved in creating, planning, implementing and evaluating a client-oriented project by developing an integrated marketing communication campaign for a local education not-profit. This course has vastly improved my understanding of the relationship between advertising agencies and firms, as well as skills like media design, copywriting, and professional communication.

This course dealt with the behavioral science concepts of individuals, as well as the group behavior of consumers. This course emphasized the application of buyer behavior research to marketing management.

COB 300 was the marketing component of an integrated learning experience consisting of four courses, taken concurrently, which introduced the fundamental conceptual tools of management, finance, operation and marketing in such a way as to establish their mutual relevance and interdependence. We worked in small project teams on a semester-long business plan project designed to require the application in concert of conceptual tools from each of the function areas.

The application of quantitative modeling and analysis to managerial decision-­making. Introduced techniques from predictive and prescriptive analytics including linear optimization, decision analysis, queuing, regression, time­series forecasting, and simulation. Emphasis is on implementing, solving, and interpreting results from spreadsheet models for business applications. This course is where I developed an understanding for the ‘other side’ of marketing.

Internship Experience

Over the course of three months, I undertook a position as an intern at Oberhand Financial, a real estate loan brokerage company which specializes in DSCR and Hard Money loans in the Greater Richmond Area. During my time I utilized various sources to acquire information and contacts for potential customers and delivered in depth statistical analysis of target markets. I also designed promotional materials including flyers and business cards.
